Nokia Lumia devices to get Windows Phone 8.1 ‘this summer’

If you own a Nokia Lumia phone, you will receive the Windows Phone 8.1 over-the-air update this summer. Stephen Elop now head of Microsoft’s devices and studios division, the announcement on stage today at Build 2014.

This means that a large number of Windows Phone 8 devices, covering both mid-range and high-end market, you will have access to the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile operating system in the next few months.

“Go check your low-priced Android devices and see if they get the latest innovations coming out of Google,” Elop challenged the crowd in San Francisco. “The answer of course not.”

Windows Phone 8.1, unveiled earlier today, introduces the Cortana personal assistant, customizable lock screens, Action Center notifications.
